Side event held on the sidelines of the 58th session of the UN Commission on Population and Development

​The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States—Social Affairs Sector (Population Policies Department / Technical Secretariat of the Arab Council for Population and Development)—convened a high-level side event entitled: "Promoting Population Health through the 'Health in All Policies' Approach in the Arab Region." The event was held on 10 April at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on the margins of the 58th Session of the United Nations Commission on Population and Development.

​In continuation of the League of Arab States' commitment to advancing the rights of persons with disabilities, a high-level delegation led by Her Excellency Ambassador Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Social Affairs Sector, participated on behalf of His Excellency the Secretary-General of the League in the Third World Summit on Persons with Disabilities, convened in the German capital, Berlin, on 2-3 April. The summit was inaugurated by His Majesty King Abdullah II and the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Olaf Scholz, in light of its co-chairmanship by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Federal Republic of Germany.

​Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, affirmed that the wars waged by Israel against the occupied Palestinian territories—particularly in the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, and Syria—have entered a dangerous new phase marked by flagrant arrogance, systematic breaches of signed agreements, violations of national sovereignty, and a deliberate escalation in the targeting of civilians. He warned of the grave consequences of continued international inaction in the face of this unrestrained aggression, which stands in blatant defiance of the principles and norms enshrined in international law.

League marks Arab Music Day: Artistic legacy consolidating unity and identity

​The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States marks Arab Music Day, observed annually on 28 March, in accordance with Resolution 8372 of the Council of the League of Arab States at the Ministerial Level, issued on 6 March 2019. The commemoration coincides with the anniversary of the inaugural Arab Music Conference held on 28 March 1932—a milestone that continues to symbolise a renewed homage to the art of music and its profound influence in cultivating aesthetic sensibilities and nurturing creative talent across the Arab world.
