​Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, received a phone call on 8 March from Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. During the call, she conveyed a message addressed to the Council of the League of Arab States, which convened on the same day at the ministerial level in an extraordinary session via videoconference to discuss the Iranian attacks on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of a number of Arab states.

​The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States strongly condemns the Iranian attacks and assaults against the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It considers these missile attacks a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of states that advocate peace, have worked towards achieving stability, and have not participated in the war.

General Secretariat commemorates Arab Sustainability Day

​The League of Arab States commemorates Arab Sustainability Day on 16 February at the headquarters of the General Secretariat under the theme: "The Path of Sustainable Development: A Decade of Achievements."

This year's observance will feature a special tribute to His Excellency Mr Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, in recognition of his leadership and steadfast support for Arab efforts in the field of sustainable development, as well as his sustained commitment to strengthening effective partnerships among all stakeholders and launching qualitative initiatives culminating in the adoption of the Arab Vision 2045.
