Aboul Gheit rejects and condemns Israeli plan to reoccupy Gaza Strip

​Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, rejected and strongly condemned a plan announced to have been approved by the Israeli Security Cabinet. The plan calls for the “reoccupation” of the Gaza Strip, placing it under Israeli control, displacing the residents of Gaza City, and confining most of the Strip’s population to a small area in its south.

​The High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, held in New York from 28 to 30 July, has officially commenced. Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, participated in a dialogue session to present the outcomes of the conference’s working groups. Alongside Ms. Dubravka Šuica, European Commissioner for the Mediterranean, he presented the final results of the Eighth Working Group, focused on "Peace Day Efforts," which is co-chaired by the League of Arab States and the European Union.

League strongly condemns attempt to impose illegitimate government in Nyala, calls for respecting Sudan's unity and sovereignty

​The League of Arab States condemned the announcement made on 26 July by a Sudanese coalition affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) regarding the formation of a parallel government in Nyala and its intention to appoint governors for several regions. This action constitutes a blatant challenge to the will of the Sudanese people and represents an attempt to impose a fait accompli through military force, disregarding the risks such a move poses to any prospects for a comprehensive political solution to the Sudanese crisis. It further threatens to intensify the cycles of violence and displacement endured by millions of innocent Sudanese.
