The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosted on 9 December 2022 the first Arab-China Summit. Held within the framework of the Arab-China Cooperation Forum, the summit's Arab and Chinese parties agreed at the ninth round of the Ministerial Meeting of the forum on 6 July 2020 to expand Arab-Chinese strategic partnership to serve the interests of both sides and they welcomed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's hosting of the summit.
The decisions issued by the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level, the most recent of which was Resolution No. 8818 issued by the 158th regular session on 9 June 2022, welcomed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's hosting of the first Arab-China Summit, which contributes to advancing Arab-Chinese strategic partnership. Moreover, the summit serves the common interest of the Arab and Chinese sides and improves the mechanisms of the Arab-China Cooperation Forum. The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States was assigned the task of coordinating with the concerned authorities in both the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the People's Republic of China, within the framework of the tripartite preparatory committee, to prepare for this important summit.
