Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, congratulated the people of Sudan, their leadership and institutions on the signing of the transitional period at the ceremony held in Khartoum on Saturday.
An official source at the League's General Secretariat stated that Aboul Gheit had assigned a high-level delegation headed by Assistant Secretary-General for Arab Affairs and National Security Khalil Al-Thawadi to participate in the celebration and sign as a witness to the transitional period documents between the Transitional Military Council and the forces of the Declaration of Freedom and Change.
The source added that Aboul Gheit, who visited Sudan on June 16, intends to make a second visit to Khartoum soon in connection with the role that the Arab League intends to play in the next phase in support of stability and development in Sudan and support him in all that would contribute to the completion of the transitional phase.
