The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States (Social Affairs Sector – Youth and Sports Department – Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports) will convene the meetings of the auxiliary technical committees (youth, sports, and financial) on 11 and 12 January 2026 at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States. The Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports will also meet on 13 January, under the chairmanship of the Arab Republic of Egypt, with the membership of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Tunisia, the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Iraq, the State of Palestine, the State of Kuwait, and the State of Libya. The 49th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports will be held in the evening under the chairmanship of the United Arab Emirates.
Minister Plenipotentiary Enas El Faragani, Supervisor of the Social Affairs Sector, stated that, in light of the challenges facing the Arab region and the world, as well as the rapid global and regional transformations affecting Arab youth, there is sustained and serious attention at the level of Arab leaders, governments, and ministers of youth and sports to Arab youth and their future, as they represent a vast human resource for supporting Arab development.
The Youth and Sports Department – Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports will submit proposals for youth-oriented activities serving Arab youth, including programmes, initiatives, and dialogue sessions, for inclusion on the agenda of the Council. These include the Fourth Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum, the Ninth Arab-European Cooperation Forum, the Fourth Arab Youth Parliament Simulation Model, the Third Arab Youth Salon, a training course on artificial intelligence, content creation, and awareness-building among youth, a training course on cybersecurity and youth mental health, the Arab Youth Excellence Award, the First Arab Championship for Electronic Games, and the League of Arab States Cup for Embassies.
The ministries of youth and sports in the member states have also submitted a wide range of diverse youth and sporting activities aimed at reaching all segments of Arab youth. These include the 10th edition of the Sacred Sites Journey Programme for Arab Youth in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; the Arab Youth Nile Ship in the Arab Republic of Egypt, designated Arab Youth Capital for 2026; the Peace Marathon in the Federal Republic of Somalia; the Arab School Sports Festival in the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria; the Arab Women's Clubs Championship in Sharjah; Manama as the Arab Capital of Sports Culture; and the 2026 Sports Games of the Specialised Federations.
Her Excellency further noted that the Social Affairs Sector has submitted the executive plan for the Arab Strategy for Youth, Peace and Security, which was launched in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in 2025 as the first strategy of its kind in the Arab region and globally, and that work will proceed on the strategy's outputs throughout 2026.
Her Excellency affirmed that the Social Affairs Sector (Youth and Sports Department – Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports) is engaged in continuous follow-up with the ministries of youth and sports in Arab states regarding support for Arab youth, and acts as a focal point for the exchange of information and expertise among these ministries, as well as for sharing current and future youth plans and programmes developed by Arab states.
