The General Secretariat – Department of Health and Humanitarian Aid, which serves as the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health – is convening the 17th meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health on 18-19 November at the headquarters of the League of Arab States. The meeting is set to prepare for the 63rd ordinary session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health and its Executive Bureau, scheduled for 17-18 December 2025.
The meeting will review several key health issues, foremost among them support for the health sector in the State of Palestine, the successful and pioneering experiences of Arab member states in the health field, and developments regarding the Arab strategies for utilising the expertise of expatriate Arab health professionals to support health sectors in the region (2026-2030). It will also examine the development of primary healthcare and family medicine (2026-2030), as well as the provision of public health services in the cases of asylum and displacement in the Arab region. In addition, the meeting will consider reports from bodies affiliated with the Council of Arab Ministers of Health, namely: the Arab Authority for Blood Transfusion Services, the Arab Board of Health Specialties, and the Arab Centre for Authoring and Translation of Health Sciences.
The meeting will also follow up on the actions taken by the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health regarding the resolution of the Arab Development Summit on investment in human health resources, and the resolution of the Economic and Social Council on strengthening the right to family planning in Arab countries and analysing the challenges and opportunities associated with declining fertility rates.
Furthermore, the meeting will discuss and follow up on several additional health issues, including the unified statement of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health before the 79th session of the World Health Assembly in Geneva in May 2026, to be delivered by Her Excellency the Minister of Health of the Kingdom of Bahrain; the First Arab Ministerial Forum on Health and Environment; the establishment of a regional Arab centre for applied epidemiology; follow-up on the work of the Arab Committee for Emergency Preparedness and Response; the unification of Arab efforts to combat drugs; and the financial affairs of the Arab Fund for Health Development.
The recommendations of this committee will be submitted to the Executive Bureau and subsequently to the Council of Arab Ministers of Health, scheduled for 17-18 December 2025, for the necessary resolutions to be adopted.
