  • First report on the State of Climate in the Arab Region 2024 released

    ​Within the framework of cooperation between the League of Arab States, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), and the World Meteorological Organisation, the first State of Climate in the Arab Region 2024 report was launched. The report marks an important step towards enhancing collective understanding of climate patterns, their associated risks, and their socio-economic impacts.

    Ambassador Dr. Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Maliki, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Economic Affairs Sector, stated that the report offers a reliable scientific assessment grounded in up-to-date data and regional insights, providing an essential basis for policymaking and informed decision-making. He added that it stands as a successful model of synergy and cooperation, made possible through the contributions of national meteorological centres, United Nations agencies, and regional institutions.

    The report paves the way for stakeholders to draw on its findings as a starting point for collective action aimed at building a more sustainable and climate-resilient future for the Arab region.
