As part of the Arab-African cooperation programmes implemented by the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries, the training programme for 55 scientists, researchers, and engineers in the field of non-traditional welding techniques concluded at Mombasa Technical University in Kenya. The programme was held from 13 to 17 October.
During the closing ceremony, His Excellency Ambassador Mohannad Saleh Lajouzi, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and Director-General of the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries, delivered a speech on behalf of His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States. He conveyed his greetings and best wishes to the participants, stating that this programme reflects the Fund's commitment to building African capacities and strengthening Arab-African cooperation in scientific and technical fields, based on the firm belief that investment in human capital is the cornerstone of sustainable development.
The closing ceremony was attended by a number of senior Kenyan officials, along with Professor Lily Bubakar, President of Mombasa Technical University, and heads of university departments. The attendees commended the fruitful cooperation between the Fund and the Kenyan side and expressed appreciation for these constructive efforts, which have contributed to supporting scientific research and the development of related industries. They also affirmed their aspiration to continue and strengthen this cooperation in support of development and innovation.
Ambassador Lajouzi expressed his sincere appreciation to Professor Abdel Moneim El Batahji, Professor at the Egyptian Centre for Metallurgy and programme organiser, for his distinguished efforts in preparation and implementation. He affirmed the Fund's commitment to continuing its training programmes in Kenya and other African countries in support of Arab-African cooperation and joint development.
In this context, His Excellency Ambassador Lajouzi, Director-General of the Fund, presented the Fund's shield to the President of Mombasa Technical University on behalf of His Excellency the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, in recognition of the University's role in hosting and organising the training programme. He also participated in the distribution of graduation certificates to the participants.
