  • General Secretariat to convene 41st meeting of Arab Climate Change Negotiating Group

    ​The Economic Sector (Environmental and Meteorological Affairs Department – Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment) will hold the 41st meeting of the Arab Climate Change Negotiating Group on 24–25 September 2025 at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States.

    The meeting will be attended by representatives of Arab countries from ministries concerned with climate change, relevant focal points of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Arab states, as well as representatives of Arab organisations.

    His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Maliki, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Economic Affairs Sector of the League of Arab States, said that the meeting reflects the League's commitment and continued efforts to foster coordination among member states and to develop a unified Arab position on issues raised in the negotiations.

    The agenda will address several topics related to climate change, including the draft Arab Strategy for Financing and Mobilising Climate Action 2030, the proposal to establish an Arab Centre for Climate Change and Sustainable Finance, and the Arab Action Plan for addressing climate issues, in addition to preparations for the upcoming Conference of the Parties (COP30), scheduled to be held in Belém, Brazil, from 10 to 21 November 2025.
