The Council of the League of Arab States held its 164th Ordinary Session at the Level of Foreign Ministers at the headquarters of the General Secretariat on 4 September.
His Excellency Mr. Ayman Hussein Abdullah Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, who chaired the previous session, delivered a speech at the opening session. His Excellency Mr. Khalifa bin Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates, who assumed the presidency of the current session, also delivered a speech. His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, addressed the Council during the opening session.
At the conclusion of the session, Mr. Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), delivered the Agency's statement.
