    Date: 10/07/2025

In implementation of Resolutions 1176 and 1165 adopted by the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers at its 48th Ordinary Session held on 31 January 2025, and under the generous patronage of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States organised the launching ceremony of the Executive Plan for the Arab Strategy for Youth, Peace, and Security, alongside the official inauguration of Amman as the Arab Youth Capital for 2025.

The events were held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, Crown Prince of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in coordination with the Jordanian Ministry of Youth, from 8 to 10 July.

A delegation from the General Secretariat participated in the celebrations, headed by His Excellency Ambassador Hussein Al-Hindawi, representing His Excellency the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, and including His Excellency Minister Plenipotentiary Faisal Ali Ghassal, Director of the Youth and Sports Department. During the opening ceremony, Ambassador Al-Hindawi delivered the League's address, conveying the greetings and best wishes of His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, for the success of both events.

In his speech, Ambassador Al-Hindawi addressed the multiple political and security challenges facing the Arab region, warning of their potential to produce unprecedented consequences for regional stability. He highlighted the ongoing military escalation and destructive attacks in the Palestinian territories, and praised the broad solidarity shown by Arab youth and peoples in support of the Palestinian cause—reaffirming its place as the foremost concern of the Arab world.

He further stressed the significance of launching the Executive Plan for the Arab Strategy for Youth, Peace, and Security, which seeks to strengthen the role of Arab youth in positively and effectively contributing to issues of development, peace, and security, and in guiding efforts to build safe and prosperous Arab societies.

Ambassador Al-Hindawi also commended the longstanding efforts of the League of Arab States in promoting peace and security across the region and in facilitating cooperation among member states in advancing youth-related priorities. He concluded by expressing the League's sincere gratitude to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for its generous hosting of this important youth-centred event.

The launch ceremony featured a series of activities and interactive discussions designed to promote the implementation of the Executive Plan for the Arab Strategy for Youth, Peace, and Security, in alignment with the priorities of member states and the aspirations of Arab youth. The event also addressed key themes on the regional youth, peace, and security agenda, explored approaches to developing national plans to implement the strategy, and included a range of cultural activities for participants.

As part of the celebrations, a ceremonial handover was held to officially declare Amman as the Arab Youth Capital for 2025.

The events were attended by a number of Ministers of Youth and Sports from member states, youth representatives, participants involved in peacebuilding initiatives, and representatives of international and United Nations organisations.
