A delegation from the General Secretariat, led by Ambassador Ahmed Mustafa Fahmy, head of the League of Arab States' Mission in Beijing, is participating in the Second International Exhibition on Global Supply Chain Development, held at the Shunyi Pavilion of the Beijing International Exhibition Centre in Beijing, China, from 26 to 30 November.
The exhibition, themed "Connecting the World for a Shared Future," is organised by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the China International Exhibition Centre Group Limited, with support from several international organisations, including the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), the International Trade Centre (ITC), and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
This exhibition is one of China's premier initiatives aimed at stimulating international openness. It stands as the first national-level event in the world focused on the supply chain, with the goal of accelerating the development of a new growth pattern and promoting the construction of an open global economy. The expo seeks to connect business sectors across all levels, bringing together large, medium, and small enterprises, while fostering collaboration between industry, academia, research, and practical application. It also encourages interaction between Chinese and international businesses.
The exhibition serves four key functions: promoting trade, enhancing investment cooperation, fostering innovation, and encouraging learning and exchange. It is committed to establishing a new platform that promotes a high level of openness, supports the creation of a new development model, and facilitates the building of an open world economy. The expo exemplifies the concept of constructing a shared future for mankind, emphasising economic and trade cooperation and the exchange of ideas between domestic and international enterprises.
Ambassador Dr. Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Malki, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Economic Affairs Sector, said that the exhibition serves as a vital platform for enhancing international cooperation in securing supply chains and fostering collaboration in various sectors, particularly in the digital economy, communications, transportation, logistics, and modern agriculture. His Excellency underscored that the exhibition presents a significant opportunity for both the public and private sectors worldwide to maximise economic, trade, and investment cooperation. He also highlighted the importance of fully leveraging China's initiatives, such as the "Belt and Road" and the Global Development Initiative, to achieve sustainable economic growth, aiming to increase global rapprochement and ensure mutual benefit for all nations.
Approximately 500 Chinese and international companies are participating in the exhibition, with the opening ceremony attended by key figures from various specialized United Nations organisations, representatives from foreign embassies and business associations in China, Chinese and international companies, as well as industry experts from around the world.
The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States is participating with a dedicated pavilion that showcases the League's most prominent activities in recent years. Documentaries are being presented, highlighting key milestones in the journey of joint Arab action. Other pavilions feature advancements in smart car chains, green agriculture, clean energy, digital technology, and healthy living, along with a section focusing on modern logistics supply chain services.
