Missions
  • The Department works aiming to achieve improvement in the employees performance and consistency in duty performance through organizing internal and external capacity building trainings, in the form of:

    • Internal Training and development Programs (in-house training):

    After addressing employee weaknesses, the department starts setting up and designing specific sessions to meet identified and determined needs for all the departments including international cooperation program management, international law, human rights, mediation, work stress and time management,Report writing, Protocol and Etiquette,..etc. Also organizing joint training programs with other international organizations.

    • External Training and Development Programs:

    Attending external programs through sending staff to specific external courses outside the headquarter's country depending upon the nature of the course and the time frames, representation is decided by the selection of nominations in accordance with the criteria outlined by LAS. 

    • Summer Internship Program:

    A tailored program for post- graduates, which is divided into many stages:

    • The orientation: which includes introductory sessions about the establishment of LAS and it's organizational structures, role, vision and mission, beside the most prominent documents discussed in recent history and current issues to widen their academic knowledge and skills.
    • Leadership development program, workshops and roundtable discussions to enhance their negotiation and soft skills.
    • Students' camp.
    • Arab Cultural Day
    • Covering students' initiatives by organizing the "Arab Youth Forum".
    • Spokesman elections amoung the interns, in order to learn democracy and elections process (starting from registration, the use of technology, electional campains,...).
    • Field training in LAS departments according to each student study and specialty. 

    •Integrated Stimulation Model of the League of Arab States:

    Spreading the knowledge among universities' students concerning the joint Arab Action achievements through discussing, debating, negotiating and reaching a compromise on a given proposal by following exactly the same procedures that actual members follow in the exact settings of LAS council by engaging in a role-playing stimulation.

    •World Forums:

    Selecting number of qualified youth from the Arab Countries to join and participate in the world forums.

    •Introductory Visits:

    The Department organizes intensive program at the headquarters of the General Secretariat to provide the opportunity for the largest number of students to see closely the importance of the role played by the League of Arab States. The program targets undergraduates and newly graduated students from all specializations, including economics, business administration, political science. A taylored program is also designed for engineering students, which aims to show them with the architectural features of LAS building. The intensive program includes lectures on the foundation of LAS, the organizational structure, role, objectives and goals of LAS, beside the open discussion. The program also includes a number of field visits within the General Secretariat Headquarters, including a visit to the operations room of the Monitoring and follow-up of crisis Department and a visit to the library where LAS holdings of photographs, documents, manuscripts and recordings are kept.

    These are some highlights of the activities, beside these activities the department participate in projects of workshops and siminars related to enriching the secretariat staff with information and improving their skills.

Targets
    1. Organize high quality training courses related to the nature of the work of the General Secretariat, and match the training needs of the General Secretariat.
    2. Expand the scope of internal and external training and development courses, to be of high quality, and achieve greater access to a wider range.
    3. Provide the opportunity for the university's employees working in diplomatic permanent missions to facilitate their participation in training courses.
    4. To expand the circle of communication and cooperation in the field of training with institutes, universities, regional and international bodies and organizations, organize joint programs and share experiences. And open new areas of cooperation with a number of countries such as the United States of America, France, Germany, India, South Korea, ..
    5. Organizing meetings with the deans of the diplomatic institutes in the Arab world, to study aspects of cooperation in the field of training and rehabilitation of Arab diplomats.
    6. Organizing joint activities with departments, and involving the staff of the Secretariat in presenting lectures within programs prepared by the Department.
    7. Preparing statistics and data for programs and trainees.
    8. Coordinating with the sectors and departments to nominate candidates for training programs both inhouse and abroad and to establish strategy for the selection of candidates and follow up all procedures related to their participation.
    9. Assess the level of participation and discipline of participants in courses, whether internal or external courses.
    10.   Follow-up and evaluation of the implementation of training programs
    11.  Monitoring and evaluation of the annual training plan.
    12. Supervising the organization of training courses within the General Secretariat for college students to introduce to them the activity and work of the League of Arab States.
    13.  Preparing and writing certificates for participants in training courses. Provision of training materials and appropriate maintenance of appropriate technological equipment.

    نظمت الأمانة العامة لجامعة الدول العربية (إدارة التدريب وتطوير أساليب العمل – قطاع الشؤون الإدارية والمالية) برنامج تدريبي حول التحليل السياسي وتقدير الموقف خلال يومي 6 و7 فبراير 2019 بمقر الامانة العامة، والذي هدف إلى التعريف بالمنهج العلمي للتحليل السياسي بما في ذلك مضمون الخطاب السياسي والخطوات المتبعة لذلك والاسس التي يقوم عليها، بالإضافة إلى تناول الأوضاع السياسية وخصائصها وأساليب تقدير الموقف من خلال عرض نماذج لبعض الأزمات وسوء تقدير الموقف فيها ونتائج ذلك. وتم تناول حالات لاستخدام المنهج العلمي والاسس التي يقوم عليها، كما تم تناول النظرية السياسية في العلاقات الدولية وكيفيتم تحليل النص السياسي، وأهمية الاستفادة من الماضي في قراءة الحاضر واستشراف المستقبل للتنبؤ بالتطورات ووضع التوصيات المعنية.

    وتم إختتام البرنامج التدريبي بالنقاش حول مواصفات وإمكانيات المحلل السياسي الناجح وكيفية تحديد الخصائص الأساسية للأزمة مع القدرة على إدارتها.

    استضاف قطاع الشئون الإدارية والمالية - إدارة التدريب وتطوير أساليب العمل يوم الثلاثاء 28 يوليو م2015، الدكتور عبد المنعم سعيد، رئيس المركز الإقليمي للدراسات بالقاهرة، حيث ألقى محاضرة تحت عنوان "المحددات النظرية لتحليل مستقبل منطقة الشرق الأوسط ،في ظل التطورات الراهنة"، للمتدربين ضمن برنامج التدريب الصيفي لهذا العام،   وحضرها  أكثر من 50  طالب وطالبة من عدد من الدول العربية، من الدارسين في الجامعات العربية والأجنبية.
