عقدت الأمانة العامة لجامعة الدول العربية تنظيم الملتقى الرابع للإدارات الانتخابية في الدول العربية تحت شعار "الإعلام والانتخابات" خلال الفترة من 12-14 يونيو / حزيران 2023 بمقر الأمانة العامة بالقاهرة، وذلك بالتعاون مع شعبة المساعدة الانتخابية التابعة للإدارة السياسية بالأمم المتحدة وبرنامج الأمم المتحدة الإنمائي "المشروع الإقليمي للدعم الانتخابي في المنطقة العربية"، ويهدف الملتقى إلى تعزيز التعاون في مجال الانتخابات من خلال تبادل الخبرات فيما بين الإدارات الانتخابية في المنطقة العربية.
شارك في الملتقى الرابع العديد من رؤساء وأعضاء الادارات والهيئات الانتخابية العربية بالإضافة إلى ممثلين عن المنظمات الدولية للتباحث حول الجوانب المختلفة لدور الإعلام خلال مختلف مراحل العملية الانتخابية، وتضمنت جلسات الملتقى عروضاً مقدمة من الدول الأعضاء والمنظمات الدولية حول دور الإعلام التقليدي والرقمي في الانتخابات، كما تم مناقشة سبل تعزيز قدرات الإدارات الانتخابية على التعامل مع المشهد الإعلامي بأبعاده المختلفة خلال العمليات الانتخابية.
The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States held the 4th Forum of Electoral Management Bodies in the Arab States from 12-14 June 2023 at LAS HQ, with a thematic focus on 'media and elections', the forum is a collaboration between the Electoral Affairs Department of the League of Arab States, the Electoral Assistance Division of the United Nations Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (EAD/DPPA) and the Arab States Electoral Support Project of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the forum aims at promoting the cooperation in the electoral field among the Arab EMBs.
In addition to representatives of international and regional organizations, several heads and members of Arab electoral management bodies participated in the fourth conference to address various aspects of the role of the media during the various phases of the electoral process. Presentations on the function of traditional and digital media delivered during the forum sessions by member states and international and regional international organizations. It also explored how to improve the ability of electoral administrations to handle the media environment and its varied aspects throughout the electoral processes.
