The Permanent Representatives to the League of Arab States and the Ambassadors of the Political and Security Committee of the Council of the European Union held their 10th meeting on 4 November in Brussels, Belgium. The meeting was co-chaired by His Excellency Ambassador Hamad Al Zaabi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Arab Republic of Egypt and Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates to the League of Arab States (currently holding the presidency of the Council of the League at the Ministerial Level), and Her Excellency Ambassador Delphine Pronk, Chair of the Political and Security Committee of the Council of the European Union. His Excellency Ambassador Khaled Manzalawi, Assistant Secretary-General for International Political Affairs and head of the League of Arab States General Secretariat delegation, also attended the meeting.
The meeting underscored the ongoing momentum of the Arab-European dialogue and the strengthening of political and security consultation channels between both sides at a critical juncture marked by rapid regional and international developments. Discussions focused on key issues of mutual priority, foremost among them the Palestinian question, which remains at the core of the regional conflict, as well as developments in Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Sudan, Somalia, and Yemen, along with their associated humanitarian and security implications. The meeting also addressed matters related to Red Sea security, maritime security, migration, refugees, and internally displaced persons, in addition to the Ukrainian crisis and its impact on regional and international stability.
Both sides reaffirmed the importance of continuing joint efforts to address the political, economic, social, and security challenges threatening stability in their shared region, and reiterated their commitment to deepening the Arab-European partnership as a cornerstone of regional response. They also stressed the need to hold the sixth ministerial meeting at the earliest opportunity, with a view to convening the second Arab-European Summit.
