    Date: 20/08/2025

Within the framework of enhancing Arab-Japanese cooperation in the fields of culture and dialogue among civilisations, and in implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the League of Arab States and the Government of Japan in 2013—Paragraph 2 of which states: "The two sides shall establish frameworks for political dialogue and cultural and educational cooperation to further strengthen and develop their multifaceted relations," and Paragraph 8 of which states: "The two sides shall encourage dialogue among civilisations by enhancing communication and exchange between Arab and Japanese intellectuals"—

The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States (Department of Culture and Dialogue among Civilisations), in coordination with the Training and Work Methods Development Department of the General Secretariat, organised a dialogue between Arab and Japanese youth under the title "Arab-Japanese Youth Forum: Bridges of Dialogue and Culture." The forum, held in cooperation with the Embassy of Japan in Cairo on 20 August aimed to acquaint youth from each side with the culture and civilisation of the other, to bring together the youth of Arab countries and Japan, and to foster bonds of understanding, tolerance, dialogue, and mutual respect between different cultures.

The forum was inaugurated by His Excellency Ambassador Mohamed Saleh Al-Ajeri, head of the Administrative and Financial Affairs Sector, and His Excellency Ambassador Fumio Iwai, Ambassador of Japan to the Arab Republic of Egypt, both of whom underscored the importance of strengthening Arab-Japanese relations in the fields of culture and intercultural dialogue. Youth from both Arab and Japanese sides participated in the forum, which included a cultural activity on its sidelines featuring an exhibition showcasing major landmarks, local cuisine, national costumes, and key artistic traditions of both sides.

The event further addressed challenges facing youth in engaging with others, highlighted key aspects of each country's civilisation and culture, examined the role of cinema in presenting stereotypes, and discussed the importance of upbringing and education in promoting diversity, tolerance, and acceptance of others. It also explored the most effective means of combating stereotypes, the role of social media in fostering peaceful coexistence, and the role of art and culture in bringing peoples closer together.
