​Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, held a meeting with Mr. Ramtane Lamamra, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Sudan on 30 April. The discussions were comprehensive, addressing both the evolving political and on-the-ground developments in Sudan, as well as ongoing efforts to achieve peace and bring an end to the conflict.

League condemns targeting of displaced people, civilians, relief workers in Darfur's Zamzam and Abu Shouk camps

​Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, vehemently condemned the heinous and coordinated ground and aerial assaults carried out over the past three days by the Rapid Support Forces on the city of El Fasher, as well as on the Zamzam and Abu Shouk camps for internally displaced persons. These brutal attacks, as reported by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, have claimed the lives of over 100 people—including 20 children and 14 staff members of international relief organisations—and left nearly 200 wounded.
